What is a QR code? – How to Scan and Use it to Pay Someone?

You must have seen a symbol like this at shops and outlets. 

People scan it on their mobile phones and make online payments. 

Let’s learn more about it.

    Open BHIM UPI app

  • Icon

    Enter password to open app

  • Icon

    Click on scan

  • Icon

    Allow camera to scan

  • Icon

    Enter amount you want to send

  • Icon

    Enter a remark – why you are sending money example – food, chips etc.

    Click on confirm and then click on send

  • Icon

    Enter UPI pin and payment will be confirmed once authenticated using OTP

Scan and Pay

The other way to make payment using UPI is by scanning the code

    Scan a QR code on a UPI app by clicking on the “Scan Code” option on the homepage of the BHIM/PhonePe app

  • Icon

    A camera-like screen will open on the phone. There will be a small rectangular box in the middle of screen

  • Icon

    Looking through the phone screen, place the rectangular box on the QR code. The rectangular box is the code reader

  • Icon

    The code will be automatically accepted by the phone, and the payment gateway will open up on your screen

  • Icon

    Make the payment through UPI ID
