What: For holders of Insurance policy for all Insurance-related issues.

  • Endowment policy
  • Unit-linked insurance policy

  • General insurance policies like health insurance, vehicle/motor insurance, property insurance, travel insurance

Grievance about: Unsatisfactory answers to queries, delay in sending reply, delay in settling insurance claims, rude/improper treatment, not issuing receipt after premium is paid, not correcting spelling errors in policy document

Who to complain to: Insurance Ombudsman

  • For matters up to Rs. 20 lakh
  • They are mostly retired government officials with a legal background
  • Their decision is final.
  • If you are unhappy with the decision of the Insurance Ombudsman, you can go to the state High Court.
