  • Anyone can invest in a PPF

 

  • There is no lower or upper age limit for investing in a PPF

 

  • If you are investing for your children below 18 years of age, their PPF account will be managed by you until they turn 18

What are the documents required for opening a PPF?

    Fill in the PPF account opening form (this form is available at all bank branches, post offices and NBFCs)

    KYC documents:

    1. Your Aadhaar Card, Voter ID or
    2.  Driver’s License
    3. Your PAN card
    4. Proof of Address
    5. Passport-size photograph of the one opening PPF
    6. Nomination form

How to open a PPF account offline?

    Visit your nearest bank branch, post office or NBFC

    Ask for the PPF account opening form at the bank counter

    Fill out the PPF form

    Provide KYC documents for verification

How to open a PPF account online?

    Login to your net banking or mobile banking account

    Click on the option ‘Open PPF account’

    Select whether you are investing for ‘self’ or ‘minor’

    You don’t have to do your KYC again if you have a savings account in the same bank branch

    In the case of minors, verify their identity, pan, photo, and address

    Enter the amount that you wish to deposit in PPF

    Your mobile banking application will then ask for permission to enable automatic deduction

    This permission is about the automatic deduction of your investment account from your bank that will be directly deposited in your PPF

    You can set up this instruction and verify using OTP sent to your registered mobile number

    Once you have verified, your PPF account is open and ready to use

    Once your PPF account is opened, you can check your account balance in your internet banking or mobile banking portal

    Banks and post offices generally provide you with a separate passbook for your PPF. You can update it at your bank from time to time

    You can also transfer your PPF from one bank account to another and from post office to bank or from a bank to post office. However, the interest rate on your PPF remains the same since all banks, post offices, and NBFCs offer the same interest rates on PPF

    Please note that no bank official or bank will call you or email you for any OTP, user-ID, password, PIN or any card number and CVV.
