A guardian in the name of a girl child below ten years of age
You can only open one SSA per girl child in a bank or a post office
You can open a maximum of two SSA accounts per family
Only in special cases like the birth of triplets opening more accounts can be allowed
Since the primary account holder will be the girl child for whom the account is opened, you will need the following documents.
Birth certificate of the girl child
Identification and Address proof of the guardian or parents who are opening the account
Identification and Address proof of the girl child if available
KYC document of the guardian
Cheque or cash for the initial deposit
Visit your nearest post office or bank branch
Ask for a form to open Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account at the counter
Fill in the details like address, name, and date of birth of the girl child
Fill in the details of the guardian or parent for opening the account
Fill in the nomination details for the account
Show the documents along with the KYC verification, such as identity proof and address proof of guardian and Birth Certificate for the girl child
Make your first deposit at the cashier counter with cash or submit a cheque at the time of submitting the documents
Collect the receipt of your first deposit
Collect the passbook for the account and keep it safe
Log in to your India Post internet banking portal or your Bank’s internet banking portal
Check the deposits section
Check if there is a section to invest in SSY or SSA
If there, click on the same, enter the details and submit it
