Visit your nearest post office
At the banking counter, as for a form to open Post Office MIS
Fill in the details asked in the form
Fill in the nomination details
Submit the KYC document copies
Verify the KYC document copies with the original at the bank
Carry your deposit in the form of cash or cheque
Take the receipt
Keep the documents safe for redemption
You can open a post office MIS online if you already have savings account in a post office and have activated netbanking for the same
Login to your netbanking account from the India Post website
Choose open post office MIS
Enter the details such as photo, start date, post office branch, etc.
Enter nomination details
Enter the amount you wish to transfer to the MIS account
Click ‘submit’
Transfer money from your post office savings account to your post office MIS
The receipt of payment will be shared with your registered mobile number and email address
You can now check your post office MIS status through your netbanking portal
