Card Skimming is a method of placing a data transferring device on top of the card slot in ATM machines, and card reading machines at point of sale purchases.

How to avoid card skimming?

Pull the card reader to check if it is loose

Check for any marks, glue stains, scratches around the ATM card slot

Compare the ATM machine next to it to see if the card slots look the same

Use ATMs that are indoors or in a secure location

It can be hard to check for card skimmers at PoS machines, however we can stay safe by using ATM cards for One-Tap Payments instead.
