Who can File a Complaint Under the Consumer Protection Act?

Any Consumer

Regardless of your buying power, class, caste, gender or employment you have the right to seek justice.

A Consumer's Parent or Guardian

In case the consumer is a minor. For example, if the insurance is bought on behalf of the minor child, then parents can file complaint

Legal Heir of the Consumer

In case of the death of the consumer in whose name the complaint is raised. For example, if the person who bought insurance dies, the legal heir or nominee can complain.

A Group of Consumers

In case they have the same grievance. For example, customers of Saradha Chit Fund, a ponzi scheme which cheated many investors, filed a complaint as a group.

State or Central Government Departments

At times the State intervenes to protect people from fraudulent companies or organizations when they violate consumer rights.
